We design and produce hand made, one of a kind silver jewelry pieces. Our work draws inspiration from patterns, sacred symbols, and myths from many corners of the world. Balinese and Native American influences are at the heart of our creations. The meaning of our work, although influenced by cultural motifs, should be interpreted by the wearer, so that you can take part in the creative process with us.
We had the idea for completely ethical, fair trade company and trusted that the universe would show us a way if it was meant to be. One day on a random motorcycle trip through Bali we stumbled upon friendly and talented silver-smiths living in the mountains. After a few visits and cups of coffee later, we ended up becoming good friends and business companions. We now work closely together with them and other artisans in the village on our creations.
There are many possible interpretations of our name, Asli Dunia, but our favorite is “Original Earth”. We believe that you as an individual have the power to shape your world, whether artistically, ethically, physically, socially, etc. – the sky is the limit. Asli Dunia is our own small addition to the world and a reflection of this philosophy.
Treating all those around with respect and kindness is a core tenet of our brand. We strive to be as fair as possible in our business relations by paying reasonable prices relative to the work and passion put into something. Our silver production in Bali is overseen directly by ourselves to ensure that Asli Dunia artisans are paid a living wage and treated with the utmost kindness, respect, and appreciation. Gemstones are harder to trace but we do our best to source gems that were mined and cut ethically and sustainably. This is an area that we are always working to improve on. Please let us know if you can connect us with a fair trade gemstone dealer as we are always looking to expand our collection of gemstones.
We are animal lovers and like to contribute to positive change. We donate five percent of revenue directly to local animal welfare programs. Donations are split between different charities that work with stray dogs and other animals in Bali for a long term solution.
